Tutor Teach Inc. Terms of Use and Conditions
- Tutor Teach’s TERMS AND CONDITIONS are outlined to support our clients’ needs. Hereafter, a “client” refers to any person who has entered a service agreement with Tutor Teach (“The Company”) to receive any form of education be it for themselves or a child in their care. Adherence to these policies is required at all times by both the organization and the clients for Tutor Teach’s services to be effective. Deviation from these policies may or may not, at the sole discretion of Tutor Teach, result in a termination of the contract between Tutor Teach and both client and tutor. Hereafter, a “tutor” refers to any person currently contracted by Tutor Teach to provide educational services. These policies are designed to accommodate and satisfy all parties involved equally and represent fair and reasonable terms and conditions thereto.
Students are expected to:
- Arrive to the tutoring session on time, whether it is held online or in-person.
- Be active in the tutoring process.
- Come to Tutor Teach sessions prepared with relevant course material and questions for the tutor.
- If applicable, complete homework or tasks assigned by the tutor.
- Be receptive to feedback from the tutor.
- Be patient with the tutor and the process of learning.
- Both the client and the tutor are expected to review the calendar weekly to ensure it is accurate, as billing is directly impacted by the calendar.
It can take about 3-4 sessions for students to feel comfortable with the instructor and for them to understand a different learning style. For the most effective use of time, students should be prepared for the session with their books, homework, tests and proper supplies such as notebook, pencil etc.
Tutors are expected to:
- Arrive at each session on time and prepared with relevant, customized materials.
- Add sessional notes and feedback weekly to the student portal.
- Reschedule if a session needs to be canceled.
- Keep the agreed-upon schedule updated using the calendar function of the student portal. Tutors are expected to keep the calendar updated and accurate such that the sessions are marked as attended when attended, canceled if canceled, and held on the accurate time and day. The Company is not liable for sessions marked incorrectly.
- Provide 2 weeks’ notice to Tutor Teach should they not be able to continue with a student – Tutor Teach will work to substitute the instructor with a suitable replacement.
- Provide 2 weeks’ notice for any upcoming holidays or requested time off in order for rescheduling or substitution to occur in lieu of their instructional time.
General guidelines:
- Occasionally, Tutor Teach offers the benefit of in-home tutoring. However, this does not mean that should an instructor, for any reason, feel uncomfortable or unsafe at the premises that he or she must continue to go there. If such actions occur, the tutor or client may request the sessions to be held at a neutral location going forward. A tutor and /or client may request that an initial or single session be conducted at a neutral location such as a community centre or library prior to sessions being held in the home.
- If you are not satisfied with the match with the instructor during the initial session or during any session thereafter, and you would like to have a new instructor assigned, please contact Tutor Teach (info@tutorteach.ca). It is the client’s responsibility to report any inappropriate or dissatisfactory tutor performance issues to Tutor Teach. We are always eager for feedback and appreciate any input or suggestions, both positive and negative.
- Once a tutor has arrived to the session, should the student not be available for the scheduled session, the client will be liable for payment for full instruction time, provided that the session was confirmed in advance, and the client made no earnest attempt at cancellation thereof. Acceptable methods of cancellation would include any reasonable (i.e. email, telephone, etc.) attempt to cancel the session with a tutor at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session time.
- Barring emergencies, lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be billed in full.
- Sessions canceled with ample notification or for emergency reasons, can be rescheduled with the tutor at a mutually convenient time.
- Use of the Tutor Teach portal is expected from all parties involved, both client and tutor. Clients are expected to log in to their portal to view upcoming sessions and session notes. It is the sole responsibility of the Client to ensure the sessions shown in the portal are accurate to what has been agreed upon via Tutor and Client.
- Tutoring sessions begin based on the scheduled time previously agreed-upon. The student is required to arrive prepared and ready for the session. If the student is not prepared, any time required to organize will be counted towards the session duration. Should a student arrive late, the session will run until the scheduled end-time and time.
- Tutor Teach and any of its employees, directors, founders, and associates as well as all of the familial and other relations will not tolerate abuse, harassment, slander, or other forms of egregious negative behavior. Such acts will result in a permanent cessation of services such that both yourself and your child(ren) will not receive services from Tutor Teach at any future time.
- Any damages or liability issues must be taken up directly with the tutor on an individual basis separate in its entirety from Tutor Teach and any of its employees, directors, founders, and associates as well as all of the familial and other relations thereof. Tutor Teach will not be held liable for any damages related or thereof.
- Sessions are billed according to agreed upon frequency as per the original registration. If a change is required to this frequency, the administration must be notified to allow us to adjust the tutor’s schedule to the new requirement. Session durations, if altered or reduced without notifying Tutor Teach, will be billed at the original agreed upon time. Any additional hours added to the scheduled session will also be billed at the required rate.
- As per Tutor Teach’s policies, no client who has engaged the services of Tutor Teach shall hire or engage the assigned tutor directly for a duration of 2 years from the date of termination with Tutor Teach as related to the tutor in question. This is in accordance with the competition act of the consumer code of Canada.
- It is understood that services with Tutor Teach cannot begin or continue unless credit card information has been provided and processed.
- Tutor Teach reserves the right to run the client’s credit card on file automatically for owing amounts should more than 2 attempts to contact the client be made via email, phone call, or a combination thereof go unanswered.
